Historic New England
Historic New England is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and presenting New England’s history.
We collaborated with HNE to define web strategy, information architecture, user experience, and visual design for its new web site. Following the design phase, we supported our development partners to implement the site using the Plone content management system, to convert legacy content, and to integrate the site visually and functionally with an existing online store.
One key feature of the site is the Collections Access Portal, a searchable repository of photos, artifacts, and reference materials covering 400 years of New England History. Finally, we and our partners trained staff authors on Plone and writing for the web, so that they could develop new content for the site and maintain it going forward.
