University of Pittsburgh Medical Center
The rapid growth of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), a global health enterprise of almost 50,000 employees, had resulted in the linking together of web sites with architectures that did not readily integrate with UPMC’s existing intranet site.
With the goal of a more intuitive user experience in mind, we created a global architecture that focused on employee tasks and grouped relevant information together; no longer would users have to know the organizational structure to find content. The new architecture was also identity-based, with audience gateways for nurses and physicians providing specialty content, eventually to be replaced by content pushed to the user based on role and location.
